Course Description:
This course introduces the basic concepts of morphology and the various ways of word formation. The course seeks to
develop students’ ability in language analysis in terms of form and derivations. The course also introduces the interface
between Morphology, Phonology, and Semantics. It also helps students to be aware of the components of the speech
starting from the word and its various derivations and ending in sentence structures.
Course Objectives:
- Introduce basic concepts of English morphology;
- Explain different ways of word formation;
- Develop the student’s ability in language analysis;
- Establish the connection between Morphology, Phonology, and Semantics; and
- Recognize different language components.
